Why This Project Mattered
As a female, minority gamer, this feature hits close to home. It was a pleasure to work on one of the most socially aware features in Xbox history. My focus was to give gamers the tools they need to create safe spaces to play and share, and makes Xbox Live more inclusive for everyone.
What I Built
Xbox Clubs were gamer-created and managed communities that helped players meet people and grow groups around shared interests. Anyone could join or create a Club for virtually anything—from competitive Halo teams to casual college friend groups.
Key Features:
Community Creation - Players could reserve unique Club names and build communities from scratch
Cross-Platform Access - Clubs worked across Xbox One consoles and the Xbox app
Communication Tools - Integrated voice chat, text chat, and content sharing
Admin Controls - Moderation tools to maintain inclusive, safe environments
Game Integration - Clubs appeared directly in Game Hubs for easy discovery
My Impact
As PM, I designed the tools that empowered Club admins to create lively, inclusive environments where everyone could have a great time. This meant thinking carefully about moderation features, safety controls, and community management—ensuring underrepresented gamers had spaces where they could play without harassment.
Product Launch
Clubs launched as part of Xbox Live's social infrastructure, accessible through the Community tab on Xbox One and the Clubs section on other devices.
